Amazing how quickly things change. Friday night Marco Scutaro’s defensive gem was all people were talking about as Roy Halladay pitched the jays to their fourth straight win, including that one a beauty vs.the NY Yanks.
Fast forward to yesterdays game. The jays were up in the early stages of the game with yanks having loaded the bases with only 1 out. You could tell that the games outcome hinged on this key at bat. Jeter hit a sharp ground ball right at Scutaro, exactly what the jays had hoped for…except this time Scutaro couldn’t get is hands on the ball, the yanks scored a run, the bases remained loaded with still only one out.
While the jays escaped the inning down only 1 you could tell that the game was over. Baseball, unlike other sports can really be analyzed to one specific at bat, or one play that can dictate the outcome.
For Scutaro and Jays it was a botched sure thing double play that killed them yesterday.
A happy sunny Sunday to all. May this week bring us some more excitement in the world of sports.
